Masimanyane Women’s Rights International (MWRI) is in a partnership with organisations in three countries on the continent: The Mentoring and Empowering Programme for Young Women (MEMPROW), based in Kampala, Uganda,Fórum Mulher, is a network of women’s associations, based in Maputo in Mozambique and The Gender Studies and Human Rights Documentation Centre (GSHRDC), based in Accra, Ghana, since 2017.
The objectives of the programme are:
To develop a comprehensive response to violence against women and girls in the target countries and to advocate for increased services for victim-survivors, an end to impunity and improved state accountability.
To increase access to justice by developing young women’s leadership capacity resulting in strengthened responses to VAWG.
This week, the visit to Forum Muhler was to conduct oversight during our close-out field visit and meet with beneficiaries of the programme.
We met with the programme management at Forum Muhler, the local councillors, religious leaders and community based organizations of Ascha and Kutenga, together with GBV activists who implement the training they have received from Masimanyane Women’s Rights International, within their communities.
We will be conducting the two remaining oversight visits in November 2022.
